CLH Promote interactive table at the Care Managers Network Event
On the 1st November 2018, we attended the 'Dr Sam Davis - The State of Dementia Care - We Can Do Better' event which was held at Exeter Golf & Country Club and organised by the Care Managers Network.

It was a wonderful morning session where Dr Sam shared her findings on international studies and ran through a question and answer session to providers and care workers that are passionate about Dementia.

Dr Sam Davis is a Gerontologist and experienced researcher. In the UK she held fellowships at the University of Aberdeen and Sussex University and was a member of the Centre for Gerontology, Keele University until 1997. In Australia, Sam has held positions with the Centre for Ageing Studies (Flinders University), the Centre for Applied Gerontology at the Northern Health Service in Melbourne and Monash University, and for the past 8 years, Head of Department, Applied Gerontology, Flinders University. She has presented at national and international conferences on rural ageing, person-centred care, enabling environments, dementia care and culture change. Dr Davis has received more than four million dollars in funding over the past six years. Her most recent project was to provide dementia care education and resources to the staff and management of the more than 2700 residential aged care homes across Australia.

Dr Sam Davis provided an interactive and thought provoking presentation about supporting people with dementia in different care settings. Based on international research and her team’s Australian research and practice experiences, she explores language and attitudes, physical environments and approaches to support that impact on the well-being of people with dementia.

John Leary, a director of CLH was given the opportunity of presenting our new and innovative table to the audience and took the opportunity of advising how the RemindMeCare software is also offered with all Care Home Activity Tables. This is an app which is person centered care compliant and family members can interact with loved ones online through this system. They can monitor their loved ones daily schedule, what activities they have been doing and most importantly their mood throughout the weeks/months which is captured in a small survey. This software analyses personal likes, dislikes, specific care details and stores them onto the system.

The newly launched interactive digital table was very well received and we were impressed how positively Dr Sam spoke on the many benefits of the table.

The Award Winning Care Managers Network exists to bring Care Providers together so they can access the most current information, advice and support in reference to Health and Social care. Through the network, managers can get to know one another, get to know their local and regional members of the Care Quality Commission, share advice, hints and tips to improve their service and learn about new initiatives and important information directly from the source.

If you aren't part of the network yet then do consider going along to an event as the sessions are very relaxed with a variety of topics on the agenda and always something new going on.
