Care Home Visiting: Keeping in Contact with Loved Ones during the Covid-19 Pandemic
During the coronavirus crisis care homes have come up with many ingenious ways to allow their residents to interact safely with loved ones.
Being able to see each other through glass, either by a window or in conservatories, is popular. Often, with the addition of a mike or even a telephone.
Others have used marquees and tents to facilitate the 2-meter rule outdoors, sometimes using tables between.
More uniquely other homes have had cuddle curtains: plastic curtains with arm slots, allowing loved ones to hug safely. These curtains are thoroughly disinfected between uses.
One Home in Devon came up with a concept of a drive-through visit during the height of lockdown in May.
